ABOUT US

Our founder, Juan Galvis, has spent his life in the quest to advance the human-animal bond. In his native country of Colombia, South America, he was immersed in multi-species animal husbandry from a very early age.

Without realizing it at the time, those early experiences became the foundation for what would later become his vocation, career, and lifelong passion—animal care.

In 1997, at the age of 18, Juan came to the United States to pursue his education at Campbell University in North Carolina, where he studied Business Administration, Biology, and Economics.

After completing his education, Galvis dedicated himself to mastering advanced working and protection dog training. As was his custom when pursuing knowledge, he sought out and learned from some of the top canine behavior experts throughout North America and Europe.

Through years of dedication and hard work, he earned the respect of professionals in the field and built an outstanding reputation. He became the first person in North Carolina history to title a dog in the highly demanding sport of Mondioring. Many of his working and companion dogs have gone on to earn titles and recognition from respected experts worldwide.

While these accomplishments are significant, Galvis often says, “All I care about is being a good dog and cat dad. I would never give up on the moral responsibility to treat animals with kindness and dignity above money, trophies, or recognition. Every animal deserves the highest level of care and attention.”

His curiosity about animal behavior and unwavering commitment to exceptional pet care eventually grew into one of the region’s most respected pet care companies, serving families throughout North Carolina and Florida, with continued plans for thoughtful expansion into additional markets.

PECUS LLC, doing business as The Pet Wagon, Dogability Dog Training, and its affiliated companies, was founded by Juan Galvis and Maria Sol Arenas. Together, they built the organization from the ground up and continue to share a commitment to its mission and long-term success.

Maria Arenas also attended Campbell University, where she met Juan. She earned both her bachelor’s degree and MBA while attending Campbell. A native of Argentina and once a highly ranked world-level competitive golfer, Maria often says, “I wouldn’t trade places with anyone today.” Her passion lies in caring for pets while building teams that share the same values of compassion, professionalism, and excellence.

Today, Maria oversees the daily operations of the company, ensuring that every pet receives exceptional care while fostering a culture built on kindness, accountability, and respect.

Although the company has developed an outstanding leadership team and strong management structure, it remains rooted in the values on which it was founded. Animal care is more than a business—it’s a calling. As they have often said, “Serving the needs of other creatures brings absolute purpose to our lives.”

We look forward to many more years of serving pets, their families, and our communities with the same passion and dedication that have defined our journey from the very beginning.
